The fifth and youngest Elemental at 20, Obsidian is the Dark Elemental, opposite of Malachite. The daughter of Sailor Pluto and the God of War, she is the most powerful of the Elemental Shitennou, capable of destroying a single life or the entire universe, although she rarely even comes close to using her full powers. These powers force her to hold a great control over her emotions, thus making her appear cold and distant, except to her mentor and lover, Jadeite.

In battle, Obsidian uses the Silver Naginata, a gift from her real mother. She is quick and not afraid to kill if necessary, nor is she afraid of dying. She was too powerful for Beryl to control during the Silver Millennium, but managed to control her in the 20th century due to selective memory deletion and heavy brainwashing. Obsidian is partial to violin music and can go into a trancelike state upon hearing specific pieces, but when she comes out of it, she does not remember what happened. Nobody is certain why.
