Densetsu Elemental Shitennou No Silver Millennium: Dictionary


About the Tennou Names...

Each of the five Tennou have two names, one which is their birth name, the second of which is their Elemental name. All have meanings to them tied in with their Element, although I did establish a pattern for the Elemental names. I basically took the Element and added the word "kami," which roughly stands for "god," and then used the Tennou's original stone name with it. However, while the birth names are basically in an established pattern as well, Obsidian is the only one who deviates from this pattern. As a hint to her parentage, I used the last name Meiou and first name of Charon, both of which refer to her mother.

Jadeite

Birth Name: Abareno Kumo(Raging Cloud)
Elemental Name: Arashikami(Storm God) Jadeite

Nephrite

Birth Name: Eienno Uchu(Eternal Universe)
Elemental Name: Hoshikami(Star God) Nephrite

Zoisite

Birth Name: Abareno Sakura(Raging Blossom)
Elemental Name: Kazekami(Wind God) Zoisite

Malachite/Kunzite

Birth Name: Aoino(Blue) Kunzite
Elemental Name: Koorikami(Ice God) Malachite/Kunzite

Obsidian

Birth Name: Meiou Charon
Elemental Name: Kurokami(Dark God) Obsidian

Other Elementals

Our five Tennou are only the honor guard to Prince Endymion IV, not his father, who has his own group of four Shitennou Elementals as his guard. They, too, have followed the element-god-gemstone naming pattern and are listed as such below.

Place Names
Edo: The original name of Tokyo. In essense, Golden Edo is Golden Tokyo.
Mare Serenitatis: The Sea of Serenity, one of the large craters on the Moon. Here, it refers to the Moon's capital city.

Otousan/Otousama: Father
Okaasan/Okaasama: Mother
Oniichan/Oniisama/'niisama: Older Brother
Otouto: Younger Brother
Oneechan/Oneesama/'neesama: Older Sister
Imouto: Younger Sister
Ojiisan/Ojiichan: Grandfather
Ojousan: Miss
Title Words

-sama: The most respectful of the title words. Used usually for royalty or gods. Also can be used for elders, such as sisters and brothers and other family. Zoisite will also refer to Malachite as "Malachite-sama"(also, Kunzaito-sama) as a term of endearment, just as Obsidian calls Jadeite "Jadeitou-sama." Also is used in military relationships between the five Tennou

-san: Used as a respectful title to those persons one is unfamiliar with. Similar to Mr. or Mrs.

-chan: Used with those that one is familiar with. Usually used among females, rarely males, unless the male is a boyfriend(thus, as a term of endearment), a very young child, or baby. Sometimes is even used among familiar males as a teasing word, such as often said between Nephrite and Jadeite.

-kun: Similar to "chan," although used between males, rarely females.

-sensei: Literally, this word means "teacher" and is used to title teachers or professors or mentors. Teachers are never to be addressed as any other title, although the Tennou will break this rule and refer to each other as "chan" in lover's relationships or "sama" to the higher-ranked Tennou(such as Obsidian would do to the others and Jadeite and Zoisite to Malachite and Nephrite) as a recognition of their higher rank.

Other Terms

Shitennou/Tennou: The word "shitennou" translates to "Four Heavenly Kings/Lords," and refers to the four original Tennou from the series, although I have used it commonly to refer to the entire group, not just the original four. Tennou literally translates to "Heavenly Lords", but serves the same purpose and is more specific to meaning Obsidian as well, but both refer to the group of five Elementals.

Inazuma: Lightning. A fitting name for the pet cat of the Elemental of Storms-to-be.

Hai/Iie: Yes/no

Asagohan: literally, morning meal. In other words, breakfast.

Ohayou: Good morning

Anou: Used as sort of a pause...like "Um..." or "Ah...". Also can be used to mean; "Um, excuse me!" when calling to a stranger on the street who perhaps has dropped something

Senshi: Warrior/soldier. I prefer warrior, but it can also mean soldier

Arigatou/Arigatou Gozaimasu: Thank you/Thank you very much.

Ginzuishou/Maboroshi no Ginzuishou: Silver Crystal/Silver Crystal of Illusions

Konbanwa: Good Evening

Demo: But...

Konnichiwa: Good Afternoon

Nani: What?

Gomen/Gomen Nasai: Sorry/I'm sorry.

Sayonara: Farewell/Goodbye

Koi: Ornamental carp

Jigoku: Hell

Masaka!: Impossible!

Wakatta: Short for "wakarimashita," or "Understood"

Minna: Everyone

Doko: Where

Shitennou no Hako: "Shitennou's Box" or "Box of the Shitennou" Refers to the glass box from the manga in which Mamoru/Tuxedo Kamen/Endymion keeps the four stones of the dead Tennou from Sailormoon R on.

Serenity-hime: Princess Serenity.

Kiero: Leave. In the case that Jadeite uses it, it's more like; "Leave me the hell alone!" :P

Urusai!: Shut up!

Satsukiame: Early Summer Rain, the name of Jadeite's personal palace.

Miko: A young priestess of Shintoism. Think Sailor Mars.

Ai shiteru/aishiteru: I love you
